Workday Information

Beginner Volunteer Workday

Join us Sunday, September 20th for a seed collection day perfect for beginners. Why would seeds need to be collected in a Forest Preserve? What activities do volunteers do in other seasons? Come find out! We’ll meet at 9am at Carl Hansen Woods parking lot. See location on this web page. Also, see the What to Wear tab under the Volunteer tab. Come join us on the Prairie! While we rarely cancel due to weather this time of year, any updates or changes to the workday will be posted here by 7:00 a.m. on the workday.

Upcoming Workdays

Our workdays are open to the public.
All volunteers are required to sign a waiver form upon arrival at the workday.
Work activities and conditions are not appropriate for children under the age of 13
Volunteers under age 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
According to Forest Preserve District rules, unaccompanied minors will not be permitted to participate in the workday.

Remember to Log Your Volunteer Hours!

Logging your hours with the Forest Preserves of Cook County gives you access to stewardship training programs and certifications—and can even earn you volunteer recognition items like patches, hats, and other gear. It also helps PCPS and the Forest Preserves demonstrate our collective impact to funders and partners.
