Dressing the right way for workdays will make your experience more enjoyable. If it’s cold or cool, wear layers so you can remove them as needed.
For Cold Weather:
- Long pants
- Long sleeves
- Gloves (knit liner gloves layer well under work gloves)
- Warm socks
- Boots
- Warm coat
- Hat or hood
- Long underwear or leggings for colder days
- Fleece makes an excellent middle layer
From November through March, we conduct brush burns. When working near burn piles, wear natural fiber outer layers (wool or cotton) and old clothes in case embers land on them.
For Warm Weather:
- Long pants
- Long sleeves
- Sturdy shoes
- Socks
- Sunglasses
- Sun hat
- A moisture-wicking base layer can help on hot days.
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellent (DEET-containing repellent available on site)
Even in warm weather, long sleeves, pants and closed-toed shoes are essential to protect against plants, bugs and sun. Shorts, skirts, capri pants, tank tops, and sandals are not recommended for workdays as walking in rough terrain among tall plants poses hazards to bare skin.
Safety goggles and work gloves will be provided but feel free to bring your own if you prefer.
